Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a major risk factor for sudden cardiac death (SCD) according to new medical research from the Mayo Clinic. The research points to the importance of prescribed therapy to avoid the risks associated with sleep apnea.
In an overnight sleep study of more than 10,000 patients, sleep apnea was the second leading cause of sudden death. Being over the age of 60 was the first.
Sleep apnea, a relatively common condition, causes the oxygen levels in the blood to decrease. This, in turn, puts a strain on the heart while it tries to pump adequate amounts of oxygen to the brain and body.
There is evidence that low oxygen, caused by sleep apnea, alters the blood vessels in a way that promotes heart disease. Apnea is also associated with hypertension, stroke and Alzheimers.

Manic depression or bipolar disorder causes mood swings that are severe. The two main mood swings are mania, which can be extremely euphoric or excited mood state to a severe state of depression. Psychosis can progress from the manic phase. In psychosis their sense of reality is changed and they become a danger not only to themselves but also to others. At this stage of the illness delusions and hallucinations may be experienced. Severe depression is likely to be followed after the mania phase has passed. When the depression is so severe reality becomes unreal and they usually withdraw and isolate themselves for days, sometimes weeks. At the depression state they are the most dangerous because they are more vulnerable to committing suicide or hurting themselves.

Saying good-bye to acne is possible and it’s a lot easier that what you may believe.
Acne is just one of those simple annoyances that we have to deal with throughout our lives. Fortunately getting rid of acne is not as touch as everyone makes it out to be, you just have to find the right way to treat your acne, and then how to prevent it from ever coming back!
First of all, when acne comes rolling on in, and pushes up to the surface of your face, do not touch it! The grease and oil on your hand as well as dirt will get into your infected area, and it can cause that pimple to spread! The best thing for you to do is just simply leave it alone.

Arthritis is a description of not one, but many similar diseases, these diseases also known as musculoskeletal, are all regarded as arthritis as they effect the joint and the surrounding tissue & tendons. All of these arthritic conditions, although linked by a common factor, do have an underlying cause. This debilitating condition has grown into a major health issue, which crosses all social groups and sexes
Arthritis is an increasing issue for an ageing population, studies indicate an alarmingly high number of reported cases of arthritis by people around the age of retirement. These debilitating conditions collectively termed as arthritis, effect around one fifth of the adult population. The risk of developing symptoms of arthritis will increase with age if left unchecked, with those over the age of 70 having only a 30% chance of escaping arthritis.

Manic-depressive illness or bipolar disorder is a serious brain illness. The person has a good chance of doing well if managed well. This brain illness is marked by extreme behavioral, mood and energy changes. This manic-depressive illness can be treated during infant years but this illness is more common in adolescent and adult stages.
Bipolar illness may look different in children than in adults. Bipolar children usually have an ongoing, continuous mood disturbance that is a mix of mania and depression. However, in some adolescents, a loss may trigger a first episode of depression or mania. Later episodes may occur independently of any obvious stresses, or may worsen with stress. Once the illness starts, episodes tend to reoccur and worsen without treatment.
