By now, you’ve almost certainly heard of Wu Yi tea, especially in regards to its ability to help you lose weight. Does Wu Yi tea really work to make you lose those extra pounds? We’ll answer that question in this article and look more closely at this ancient tea which has been making inroads as a sort of natural weight loss supplement as of late and look into whether drinking Wu Yi tea for weight loss is something which can really work.
As it happens, it is true that Wu Yi tea really works to promote weight loss. By drinking Wu Yi tea regularly, you can lose weight, as long as you do this in conjunction with a regular exercise routine and eating a healthy diet. However, it needs to be remembered that Wu Yi tea is a not some sort of miracle cure for losing weight. That said, Wu Yi tea can give you the edge you need to get the most of your weight loss efforts and it can help you to keep off the weight once you do lose those extra pounds.
How does Wu Yi tea help you to lose weight and keep it off? Let’s start with an explanation of this tea and where it is from. While all teas are from the same plant (the Camellia Sinensis), the way that tea is processed after being picked makes all the difference. Wu Yi tea is a type of oolong tea which takes its name from Mount Wu Yi in the southern Chinese province of Fujian. The mineral rich soils of Mount Wu Yi are thought to be responsible for some of the health benefits of Wu Yi tea.
However, it is the process of drying and fermentation which helps Wu Yi tea work to help dieters lose weight in a safe, gentle way. The tea plant is rich in compounds called polyphenols. These compounds help the tea plant to carry out its own biochemical processes, including photosynthesis. Now this may not mean much to you, but these compounds have a lot to do with how Wu Yi tea works with your own metabolism to help you lose weight.
Like all teas, Wu Yi tea contains a small amount of caffeine, which does increase your metabolism a little bit (which helps you to burn off calories faster) - but Wu Yi tea works much better at increasing metabolic rate than can be accounted for by the caffeine content of the tea. So why does Wu Yi tea work to increase metabolism? That’s right: polyphenols.
A clinical study performed in Japan measured the amount of calories burned by subjects after drinking water, green tea or oolong tea. Those who drank oolong tea burned calories at a rate 10% higher than did the subjects who drank water - this increase was even higher in the first hour after drinking the tea. What does this mean? You may want to consider having a cup of Wu Yi tea before your workouts; this will boost the number of calories you can burn off while you work out!
Studies done all over Asia, Europe and the US have established that Wu Yi tea really works to promote weight loss. Every study has shown the same thing - drinking Wu Yi tea for weight loss on a regular basis helps people not only to lose weight, but to keep it off!
So why is it that Wu Yi tea works to help you lose weight? We already know that it is the polyphenol content which is responsible, but why is it that these polyphenols make drinking Wu Yi tea work to eliminate those excess pounds?
It turns out that the polyphenols in Wu Yi tea tell your body to begin producing enzymes responsible for lipolysyis - this refers to the breaking down of stored fat, which your body then burns off as energy. Since it simply stimulates your body’s own natural fat burning processes, Wu Yi tea really works to help you lose weight naturally, with none of the side effects of many weight loss products out there. Anyone who has been looking for a safe, all natural product to help them lose weight should try Wu Yi tea for weight loss. Wu Yi tea works ” you wont become svelte in three days, but this tea can give you the help you need to take off the weight youve been trying to lose ” and with a taste this good, youll have no problem working it into your diet.

Depending on the person side effects can include diarrhea and cramps. Basically it's just strong green tea, so it will speed up your metabolism but when you stop drinking the tea, any weight you've lost will go back on. Eventually your body will get used to it, therefore the effects won't last anyway. I didn't lose any significant weight with it, so I wouldn't recommend it.
