Going to your ear, nose and throat physician is very important, because the three organs mentioned perform some of the most important bodily functions. They are “mutually exclusive” organs and are responsible for many bodily functions. Hearing, body balancing, smelling, eating, swallowing, and speaking are tasks that require healthy ears, nose and throat.
These three organs may have different uses and exist individually. However, even just a slight problem in one of them can be quite unsettling to the other 2. That is where your ear, nose and throat (or ENT) physicians come in. These medical specialists can identify your dilemma and give you whatever aid you might need in order to be well.

Tonsillitis means inflammation of the pharyngeal tonsils. In laymen’s terms, it just means your tonsils are swollen. The swelling or inflammation may also include other areas of the back of the throat, such as the adenoids and the lingual tonsils. The tonsils are lymph nodes or oval shaped masses of lymph gland tissue seen on both sides of the throat. An infection of these tonsils is known as tonsillitis.
Common symptoms or characteristics of tonsillitis involve pain in the throat and trouble swallowing. Diagnosis can be done by checking the tonsils with a tongue depressor and spatula, used in collecting a sample.
