When our kids are babies, Moms are almost fanatical in making sure that every bite of food that goes in their mouths is entirely healthy and loaded with nutrition. While you might eat junk food every now and then, you’d never dream of feeding your baby such fare! Dessert for your baby is applesauce or blueberries. Beverages are fruit juice and milk.
However, by the time your baby reaches school age, she’s soon exposed to the junk food culture. Candy bars and soda creep in to the diet. Before you know it, your first grader is eating chips and drinking soda on a regular basis. Your children, eating healthy foods exclusively, becomes a thing of the past. There must be some reason why some girls are never happy with the way their bodies look while other girls are always comfortable in their own skins. Why is this? There are many factors, and self esteem issues are only one of the possibilities.
Gender is definitely an influence in whether or not you’ll tend to develop an eating disorder. Even though women still outnumber men, the number of young males diagnosed with eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia is rising at a distressing rate.
Your age is another consideration. No one is impervious to having an eating disorder - they can even arise at some point in middle age. But most commonly, the problem starts much sooner, usually in adolescence or your early twenties.

The eating disorder known as Bulimia Nervosa is something that quite a number of people suffer from today. There have been numerous studies of this eating disorder carried out but actually determining causes for bulimia is still proving somewhat difficult. In fact it is felt that several factors will contribute towards a person being like to suffer from this type of eating disorder. In this article we take a look at those factors which are contributing causes for bulimia today.
Cause 1 - Because we live in a world where the emphasis is constantly being placed on being thin and beautiful it leads a lot of people being dissatisfied with the way that they look. This is especially true for young women who are being constantly bombarded with images that say what they should ideally look like, but which are completely unrealistic.
