Grouchiness

Grouchiness: Tending to complain or grumble; peevish or grumpy; readiness to show annoyance or impatience.

Nobody wants to be a grouch and nobody wants to be around a grouch. But if it seems to be out of your control, what can you do? Do you just feel unhappy, and anyone nearby gets to hear about it? Or do you snap at others for nothing? Does your family recommend a psychiatrist or, heaven forbid, psychiatric drugs with horrible side effects? Is it “all in your head”?

But what really turns a decent person into a bear of a grouch? There is a physiological reason based on hormonal imbalance. The underlying cause may be fatigue. But it can also be the sudden shifts in hormonal balance so characteristic to the aging process that causes drastic mood changes in both men and women. And hormonal imbalance may be the cause of fatigue.

Irritable?

by Arthur Williamson

Does the slightest thing set you on edge? Do you find yourself getting annoyed when circumstances don’t call for it? Do you know someone that gets upset or emotional too quickly?

The above signs can indicate a hormonal imbalance.

Hormone balance is key to keeping bodily functions running properly. The word hormone had it origins from a Greek word ‘hormon’ and originally meant to set in motion, impel, urge on. The hormone system in the body sets into motion, maintains, governs and regulates the tissues and organs in the body.

Glands manufacture the secretions known as hormones. You can find out where the glands are located in the body if you do a google image search for “glands.” You’ll be able to see the different types of glands by doing so.
