Different kinds of colon cleanse products can be bought nowadays. These products com in different forms such as: drinks like teas, juices, and shakes; pills (tablets and capsules); or kits that include both pills and drinks. To choose a colon cleanser may become a difficult task when you are not aware of the basics in colon cleansing.

The Basics of Colon Cleansing

Colon cleansing is not something new. Many people have heard about it but their knowledge of it may be limited. Colon cleansing is a detoxification process that cleans out the colon as well as the intestine of unnecessary harmful build-up. In doing so, it eliminates the toxins in the digestive system that may lead to serious health issues.

Anything we ingest passes through the intestines and the colon during digestion. Most of the waste is eliminated during a bowel movement but unfortunately not all the waste goes down the toilet. The remaining waste starts to build up over the years. This build up contains harmful toxins, chemicals and bacteria. Obviously, harboring them for long will lead to complications in one’s health.

These types of cleansers are made with natural ingredients. It is oxygenated and is able to dissolve the build-up in the colon. It is generally safer to use than chemical colon cleansers.

Chemical Colon Cleansers

This type of cleanser is made with synthesized ingredients. Chemical cleansers can easily dissolve build-up in the colon but in doing so, it also dissolves some of the helpful bacteria present in the colon.

Some common ingredients found in colon cleansers, both herbal and chemical, are actually harmful to consumers. These ingredients are helpful in melting down build-up but may cause negative side-effects. People should be wary of the following ingredients in colon cleansers:

    It's good for you b/c everything inside the intestines affects the body, it 'leaks' out toxins into the bloodstream. Once the crap (literally) is cleaned out, the body/bloodstream, etc. is much less toxic.

    My sister has done it and she had to go to the bathroom a few more times a day than usual, it was about once every couple of hours.
