Introduction to Acai

The Acai tree is found in very warm, tropical climates like that of the Amazonian region of Brazil. It is a unique palm tree that produces a reddish purple berry. The berry has a twofold taste of tart berries and chocolate flavoring mixed together. Additionally, the soft inside of the palm tree’s trunk, also known as the heart of palm, is cut out and used in many dishes including salads.
It has, for centuries been a staple food for civilizations in the Amazon, Brazilian, Central and other South American countries. All parts of the tree can be used for something. Nothing is wasted. The hearts of palm are harvested, eaten by the natives and exported as a delicacy to other countries. The leaves have been harvested and woven into mats, baskets, brooms and roofing thatch for years. The trunks of the trees have been chopped down and cut to use in building structures all through these countries.
The fruit has become very popular in nutritional circles, both for age-defiance and for simple, healthy dieting. Acai’s proponents claim that it will help boost your metabolism while giving you all of the nutrients that your body needs. The natives of Brazil have been eating the hearts of palms and the fruit from this tree for centuries, as it has been a staple food for them passed down from generation to generation.
Since the popularity of this tree has risen over the years, many natives have started farming and harvesting the palm as a way to make a living. They utilize what they need and sell the rest to health food companies, exporters and manufacturers of juices. Across Brazil this berry juice is served in the form of sodas, smoothies, sorbet, juice and a flavoring in many drinks served in gourds. They also flavor it with salt or sugar to taste, depending on the individuals preference. It is now produced in Brazil in powdered and freeze dried form for export. The seeds are harvested and planted for more trees. The time for seedlings to sprout is several months, but in comparison to other crops, is considered a short period of time. Extra seeds are ground up and used to feed animals. They also take the ground up seeds and use them as a potent fertilizer.
A couple of recent lab studies have indicated that the level of antioxidants once advertised for this berry is not as high as it was first stated. They had claimed it as being among the very highest in antioxidants, however the studies they have been performing lately in comparison to other fruits and juices, shows this berry as coming up short of the peak. It may not have as high a level of antioxidants when compared to several frozen fruit juices, red wine, strawberries, mangos, blueberries, dark-colored grapes and pomegranates. If they are correct, acai may only run on an even keel with cherries and cranberries, but is still higher in antioxidants than oranges and of course apple juice.
Some other studies have indicated that this berry may be a future treatment for leukemia, diabetes, heart diseases, other forms of cancer, and even high blood pressure. In fact, they are already using acai as a contrast agent during MRI’s for gastrointestinal scans. The acai berry still packs quite a beneficial punch, no matter what the latest reports claim.

(and Obama does have an ‘agenda’, whether or not you choose to see this or not).My response to your comment regarding the ’so called’ prayer that Obama left at the Western Wall in Jerusalem is: the hair on the back of my neck stands up when I think that this man actually stood at the this Wall at all. This is a man that is Pro-Palestinian and mostly anti-Israel. As far as I can see, this man (Obama) is an ‘impostor’. He is not who he pretends to be.Do you honestly think that Obama is a True Christian and a man who obviously believes in the power of prayer? He is flattering with his ‘lips only’ and he will continue to do so until ‘his will’ is done.Everything that ‘he’ has done so far is so ‘far’ away from the ‘fruits’ of being a Christian that any Christian with eyes and ears should be able to see his ‘fruits’ and hear his ‘lies’.As a matter of fact I believe that some non-Christians can see through Obama more clearly than some Christians. I do not say this to be mean to these Christians but it is true. I remember when you wrote your article when Obama was made ‘president’. What you wrote then showed me the amount of discernment you have in seeing who Obama really is. Yes we are all to pray for those in Authority that they will be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit when it comes to decisions they make regarding protecting the people of America that are alive and the ‘unborn’ little people of America. Obviously in Obama’s case he is not open to hearing the Holy Spirit at all and only open to the anti-christ spirit. Those who were ‘listening’ to what he was saying knew what ‘he’ was going to do if he was elected president and he is on his way to getting those plans put into place. Michelle has her own plans and is succeeding at them as well.Obama said that he would do the very things that he is doing right now. So for those who thought it was a great thing to have a ‘black’ man become the president of the U.S., I would say you are getting what you voted for. The presidential race wasn’t about who would be a true Leader of the United States, it was all about ‘RACE’. I am Not a racist at all, but the presidential election of 2008 was all about ‘race’ when it should have been about who would be the ‘best’ man, no matter what his color, to lead America and when elected would ‘uphold’ the Constitution not try and change it to fit his or her own agenda. Even though I know that Obama is fulfilling the purposes of God right now, for these Last Days, I think that anyone professing to be a true Born Again Believer in Jesus Christ and believes that Obama is a Christian had better learn to discern right from wrong and not allow this ‘man’ Obama to, should I say Hypnotize them, or tickle their ears into thinking that ‘he’ is a Christian and only wants ‘good’ for America. He is a liar and is not a Christian and therefore he serves the father of lies himself, Satan.Obama may believe that what he is doing is the right way to do things but that does not make what he is doing right.Even some of us in Canada knew that if he was elected president of the U.S. he would stand with ‘the abortionists’ and anyone who wanted to ’silence’ and remove ‘true Bible Believing Christians’ because this is what he said he would do.Well Mr. Falwell, I do pray for Obama and his entire family, I pray for their Salvation before it is too late. Until he has truly received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior he will not be open to the guiding of the Holy Spirit as a Christian would be. However God will lead him in the direction He wants him to go to fulfill His Will. I also pray for all who are in Government in the U.S. and Canada.I pray that you have your eyes and heart opened to the truth about this man Obama and who he really is and what his plans for America really are, if you haven’t already.God’s ‘Will’ will be done and because we know that it is so close to the Rapture of the Church, we know that whatever God has planned for Obama to do, we can have peace knowing that God is the one that is in FULL CONTROL even though Obama and his ‘followers’ thinks they are.Well, I guess I have said a lot but I had a lot to say and I think that what I said had to be said…..I pray that Christians in the U.S. and Canada will have their eyes opened to the Great Demonic Deception that is happening right now in both Countries by our Government Leaders and by some Church Leaders. I pray that we will see what is really happening behind the Smoke Screen (and it is a smoke screen, a really BIG smoke screen). We are in the Last of the Last Days and Jesus is truly coming for His Church very, very soon. Whether one believes in the Rapture or not makes no difference, God’s Word says it will happen so it will and I for one believe what God says.
