A study that compared Amish farmers versus Amish craftsmen discovered that the farmers were far more fit due to their more physically severe lifestyles, as the craftsmen were much more sedentary by comparison. Nonetheless relative to the rest of the nation, the Amish were far fitter overall in spite of traditional diets loaded in fats and sugar because they avoid modern conveniences and do everything the old-fashioned way, by hand, with sweat.
