Losing the Baby Fat with 4 Practical Tips

by Teresa Brown

Realistically, due to our differences there is no magic “pill” to losing the baby fat. Life is what you make it so make the decision to start and commit to getting back in shape by living a healthy lifestyle. Here are some simple steps to help you on your way to a higher quality of life.

Let’s admit it that we can’t help ourselves but marvel at how quickly those Hollywood mums lose the pregnancy weight. Unfortunately, this can make us feel even more depressed and vunerable especially when your reality is that your baby is now a toddler and you’re still carrying the excess pounds and then some.

So, what is the fastest way to lose the baby fat without the advantage of having your own Momtourage like the Celebs? What may work for your friend or sister may not work for you. The trick is to find and use what works for you and make it a part of your lifestyle.

1. Exercise During and After Your Pregnancy

If you’re not a high-risk pregnancy and have consulted with your physician, then you should enroll in an exercise program designed for pregnant women such as yoga. Or you can do any non-strenuous exercise such as swimming, or weight training using lightweights to prepare your body to lose the baby fat after the baby. Regular exercise should enable you to lose the majority of the pregnancy weight within 6 weeks or longer depending on the individual.

2. Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding helps some but not all women to lose the baby fat faster. Weight loss aside, breastfeeding ensures that you will maintain a well balanced diet for you and your baby’s health. Breastfeeding takes about 500 calories per day to feed your newborn and this will cause you to burn the excess baby fat to maintain the amount of energy you will require and use. But whichever way you choose to feed your baby, make sure you eat healthy foods and drink lots of water.

3. Watch your Pregnancy Weight Gain

Logic tells us that if you consume more calories than you burn, you will indeed gain weight. Logic also tells us that when you are pregnant you will gain weight because your unborn baby is growing in your womb. Common sense tell us that pregnancy is not the time for no-holds-barred eating. Losing the baby fat in the postpartum months will be easier if you maintain a healthy pregnancy weight by eating the best quality of foods possible.

4. Living Healthy

If you can eat and exercise for your unborn baby, then you can choose to do so in order to lose the baby fat for yourself. Just continue what you started and you will be the better of emotionally and physically for it. Remember to check with your doctor before getting back into an workout schedule. Unlike the Celeb moms who have their carreer image as motivation, you have your baby, family and friends and you. You are worth the time and the effort.

Being pregnant is a blessing in so many ways. Why let the opportunity to start living a healthy lifestyle pass you by? Making nutritious food choices and engaging in some form of physical activity will make your body’s efforts to losing the baby fat happen as fast and get you back to feeling like yourself again.
