Constipation is very common among all people young and old alike. You are not suffering alone. Anyone who has experienced it knows that it can make you irritable, but there are constipation remedies to help you out there. Causes of constipation can range from a change in your behavior to simply getting older. A change in behavior can be something related to a change in your daily routine or a stressful event. Pregnancy is another cause of constipation.Age related problems arise because as everyone ages our processes become slower. Sometimes we just need a little boost to get the process of producing a bowel movement going.
A change in your daily routine such as how much you exercise can cause your body to slow down your metabolism. You will not digest food the same way and so you may notice that your bowel movements are not as frequent. If you are feeling really stressed out about something in your life this can also make you constipated. Think about when you are really stressed. Your muscles usually tense up. You are unable to relax. So this can also cause your body to struggle with producing a bowel movement.
Sometimes changing the type of food you or eat or the times you eat can throw your body off schedule. I have a friend that when she drinks her morning cup of coffee she knows she is going to have to go use the restroom. If she does not, she immediately thinks something is wrong and tries to figure out what she did or did not eat the day before. She is basically off the whole day.
For women who are pregnant or may become pregnant in the future you should be aware that constipation is likely to happen. As your uterus grows to inhabit the baby your organs get moved around. This makes it very difficult for food to travel through the proper channels as normal.
Aging is just a part of life. A lot of things change as we get older. Our gastrointestinal system is just one of many things that begin to slow down. The process of excreting waste from our bodies becomes dependent on finding the remedies.
Remedies to fight constipation vary from natural to medicinal. The right remedy for you may not be the right remedy for your friend or neighbor. Sometimes it is a combination of remedies that will work. So, find what works for you. For some people starting an exercise routine does the trick. Simply try walking everyday for 15-30 minutes. This will stimulate your body to digest food and get rid of it. Try getting more fluids everyday. Drink lots of water. This will help in softening your stools.
Get more fiber in your diet. There are so many ways to add fiber through healthy eating and using supplementation. You can simply start eating a cereal that has a lot of fiber on it. Different fruits have fiber in them, too. Everyone knows about prunes, but apples and bananas are known to help remedy constipation as well. Dark green vegetables have more fiber than other vegetables so try to add some of those to your diet. There are more options now than ever. Check out your local grocery establishment.
Speaking of the grocery store you can also buy over the counter products to help pass your bowel. There are all different types of laxatives. There are pills you can swallow and powders you can add to drinks. You should read the labels before buying and go for natural remedies where possible.
A personal friend of mine suggests drinking natural lemon juice with warm water. Add honey if you need to sweeten it. She swears by it. Adding fiber to my diet and drinking more water works for me. Hopefully, one of these remedies will work for you. If none of these remedies work for you, please seek the advice of a medical professional. You could have a condition that will worsen if left untreated.
Natural constipation remedies are needed when pregnant so consider specially formulated pregnancy health remedies.
