Removing Scars: An Option for Those With Limited Budget

In terms of healing severe skin scarring caused by injuries like wounds and skin problems like acne, we usually associate it with expensive medical operations like cosmetic and laser surgeries. While there is sound basis for this association, being that they are maybe some of the more successful scar removal options most particularly if money is not much of an issue, there are other choices available for many of us who do not have the money to bankroll such a treatment.

However, before we provide more details about these effective and financially “reachable” methods, let us first learn more about the methods that do not work regardless of whether they are cheap or not.

While there are a lot of options out there that are not very expensive, most of them are, unfortunately, quite ineffective and are simply a waste of your money and time.

Vitamin E creams - these products are some of the most widely pushed out there claiming it will help in your scarring worries. However, these products are not only quite ineffective at what they claim they do but they also have a high probability (about 30%) of causing allergic reactions. They are however quite effective as moisturizers.

Onion extracts-based products - a well-known example of such product is Mederma which in a study has been shown to be not more beneficial than the placebo used (petroleum jelly). Experts are even advising doctors to tell their patients that onion extracts based products will neither cause harm nor benefits to their scarring issues.

Other choices like anti scar products based on such ingredients like lime juice, cocoa, cucumber and aloe vera exist but no exact proof or trials have been done to demonstrate their clinical efficacy in helping cure scars.

Products that offer effective scar treatment without breaking the bank are products that has silicone in them like silicone sheets and creams (more effective when used in conjunction with each other). This products have been clinically shown to be good in improving or removing scar tissues, even with keloids or hypertrophic scar tissues. This is backed up by scientific clinical trials and is considered as the standard in scar treatment today.

Silicone sheeting is better since it is not invasive and is quite painless and most especially, relatively cheaper compared to other options that work. This approach is even more effective if applied early in the wound healing process and is a well accepted method in treating burn injuries.

Curing or improving scars does not need to be costly and invasive likesome cosmetic surgery methods. There are now ways you can get effective treatment without paying dearly for it through scientifically proven methods or products.

There are a lot of options as far as scar reduction techniques are concerned. All you need to do is assess which is best suited for your needs through sound research and due diligence. One of such methods is known as the laser scar reduction method.
