Treating a Cold Sore For Speedy Results

by Denny Bodoh

Treating a cold sore safely and successfully can be quite easy if you read this quick article. Enjoy amazing relief from your cold sores using these tried and true tips for treating a cold sore.

Treating a cold sore is not something you want to do very often. They are quite an interruption in your life no matter how good your treatment plan.

Your body can heal cold sores without your aid, but it takes much longer. Treating a cold sore in a timely and safe manner will give you relief much more quickly.

Luckily cold sores are surface infections where you can easily get to them and apply effective treatments.

There are several stages of cold sores. Each stage requires a slightly different remedy for optimum success. Below are the main stages and the appropriate treatments.

INITIAL STAGE OF YOUR COLD SORES.

The herpes virus that causes cold sores lives in the roots of your nerves. When active, this virus squirms to the surface through that nerve fiber. You feel it as a tingling, itching or burning sensation.

As soon as you suspect this virus movement, cool the target area down with ice. The herpes virus hates cold and treating a cold sore this way will often delay - if not prevent - development of your cold sores.

Also, you should now begin taking lysine supplements. Continue this until your cold sores are gone.

CREATION STAGE OF YOUR COLD SORES.

Once the virus enters the surface nerve cells, your cold sore begins to develop. Painful red bumps appear, and then further swelling.

Applying ice is still a good choice for treating a cold sore at this stage. You will find it helps reduce the pain and swelling, as well as discouraging the herpes virus from doing further damage.

One very powerful way for treating a cold sore is with garlic oil. Fresh garlic is the best. Garlic oil is very anti-virus and penetrates right through the skin almost immediately.

HEALING PHASE OF YOUR COLD SORES.

Once the sore breaks open, the virus has completed the damage and you now enter the healing phase.

Stop using the ice now. It will give comfort but will slow the healing process. Keep using oral lysine supplements and apply the garlic oil often.

At this stage start applying heat. It draws healing blood and oxygen to the sore for fast recovery. Using a hot tea bag is a great way to do this. You also gain some beneficial healing nutrients from the tea.

Do not heat up the tea bags in the microwave. It destroys the beneficial healing nutrients in tea. Heat up on the stove. You can drink some too for even better results.

As with any wound, it is important to keep it as sterile as possible. Use alcohol or peroxide for this. After cleansing, apply the garlic oil then a warm tea bag for about 10 minutes.

After a heat session, applying aloe vera gel to the wound can really help speed the healing process. It helps skin grow back amazingly fast.

Aloe Vera makes skin and cells grow like crazy. But do not use the bottled gel. It has very little healing power left. Get it fresh from the leaf of a live plant. These make very useful house plants.

CAUTION.

When you are treating a cold sore, please be careful not to create new infection sites on yourself or someone else. This is quite common and why many folks have multiple cold sores at the same time.

Particularly dangerous is spreading the virus to your eyes. This can cause permanent eye damage.

Keep your fingers and the cold sore area as sterile as possible while treating a cold sore. Wash your hands religiously, and avoid touching the sore with your fingers. This virus is a direct contact virus.

Because cold sores form on the end of nerves, they can be quite painful. Some of the remedies at the drug store contain numbing agents such as lidocaine. These products give some relief when you need it most.

Treating a cold sore is not difficult. Use cold application when the sore is forming and heat when it is healing. And remember, continual cleansing is important while treating a cold sore.

This is a shot from my first photo shoot, and her face was less in focus than the wall. I tried to do some minor editing to maintain the natural look…

Grow up. Teens and young adults will almost always dislike something about their looks. Unless you are a completely broken human being you will get over it with time.

Well You can buy crams at the store that specialize in cold sores but what I do is I use peroxide and I get it all bubbly then I use alcohol yes it stinks a bit but it drys it up faster and helps keep the itching and swelling down too! It is a good idea to start as soon as you feel one coming on! As far as the teas bag I haven't heard of using one for a cold sore..sore tooth yes but not a cold sore!
    Hope this helps…
