What Causes Anxiety Attacks & Why Am I Having These Attacks?

Imagine if you will that you’re walking down the street on a nice spring day feeling hopeful about life itself when all of a sudden you are feeling something elbow you from behind. You turn around to see that a 8 foot tall grizzly bear is staring you in the eye and is about to attack. The feeling you can experience is severe anxiety to straight out panic, which is ordinary due to the situation. However , what actually causes these anxiety attacks is a signal in an organ of the brain called the amygdala. It is the part of your brain that deals with reacting to legitimate threats.
The example describes what causes anxiety attacks in a valid situation. But what are some of the illegitimate causes? Depression, drug and alcohol abuse, sicknesses, side-effects of medicines or a family history of anxiety attacks are all triggers that increases your chances to suffer with anxiety. Treating these other Problems before working with the anxiety can turn out to be advantages for lots of folk.
If you have mates and relatives you can lean on to help in working with anxiety that’s a big help. Opening up and chatting to people you trust can go a good distance and curing the condition but if these same folks are somehow the reason for anxiety in your life you should keep away from them at least till you can deal with the problem. There’s only 1 person who can determine who’s helping and who’s hindering your problem and that individual is you.
If you are trying to help someone else understand what’s causing their anxiety, first educate yourself before making an attempt to help them. Even though these attacks are “all in the mind”, informing someone of this fact won’t necessarily help the symptoms to vanish. Instead, pay attention scrupulously and patiently to what’s occurring in their life. Don’t rush to “help” them with recommendations. Unless you’re a trained professional, don’t act like it. You will do more harm than good.
