Why You Should Choose Cot Beds
Posted by Alice Ault at Feb 25th, 2009 in Pregnancy
Cot beds are simply cots which are both longer and wider than a standard size cot. Many parents choose to buy a cot bed because they convert into a toddler bed - that is a junior sized bed - after their baby has outgrown the cot.
These junior beds are much smaller than an adult bed. As a general guide, a cot bed will usually last until your child is about 3-4 years old, depending on their size.
One thing to remember though is that you may need to check the sizes of the cot bedding you buy. A cot bed is larger than a standard sized cot so cot bed bedding, including cot bed duvets and cot bed sheets, take this into account and are made larger to fit properly.
Also bear in mind that cot beds do not usually have drop sides and not all models enable parents to select different mattress positions. Not having drop sides means it can be more difficult to get a baby in and out of their cot.
We think that a cot bed can be useful for bridging the gap between a cot and an adult bed. You dont have to worry about your childs sleeping arrangements until they are almost ready for school.
Cot beds don’t usually cost more than a cot so a cot bed can be a money saving option too as you wont need to buy a separate junior bed. Cot beds can provide a roomy sleeping solution for both toddlers and older babies.

Do not listen to the folks who say its too soon. If you know your body, you will know when something is out of the ordinary. I have 3 kids, so I know. But to answer your question, yes you can have symptoms after a week. Albeit at that point they may be very minor symptoms. I have a one year old and 3 days after she was conceived, I noticed my breasts unusually tender. (I knew the day of conception because it was planned.) But some women also experience what seem like pregnancy symtpoms that could be attributed to other things as well, such as hormonal changes or PMS.
